Taco Del Mar announced its Master Developer agreement with Norfolk, Neb.-based John Rosberg, President of TDM Development, Inc. Under the deal, Rosberg will handle territory franchising and develop the fast-casual restaurants known for "mondo burritos and rippin tacos," through the Midwestern states of Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota. The first development focus for this mondo territory is Lincoln, Neb. Plans are to open the first store by the end of October at South Ridge Shopping Center at 2525 Pinelake Road. The 10-year forecast is to open 80 locations in the Midwest. Omaha, Neb.-based commercial real estate broker Jason Ruegg of The Lund Company is serving as the regional associate in locating and securing prime restaurant space. Rosberg Management, with John Rosberg as President, has opened, owned and operated 22 Subway Restaurants in Nebraska for more than 15 years. In shifting his focus to Taco Del Mar under TDM Development, Inc., Rosberg commented it was the food that first pulled him in to the fast-casual concept. "The first time I tried the food, I was hooked; it tastes great," Rosberg said. "The customer is provided choices from the type of tortilla, beans, meat, and salsa and it's all made right in front of you." Taco Del Mar offers comparatively low start-up costs for franchisees (from $115,000 per store build out); each has a "kitchen-less kitchen," similar to Subway, which keeps equipment investment and labor costs relatively low. Taco Del Mar was named one of Entrepreneur magazine's Franchise 500 in January. Each restaurant offers mondo beef, pork and chicken burritos, fish tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, kids meals, salads, vegetarian and vegan selections. Store decor festively sets the "Inner Baja" mood with vibrant surf murals, thatched umbrellas, and long board tabletops.
