In this position he will be working directly with franchise candidates and consultants to award franchises to qualified applicants. James Young, vice president of franchise development, said adding Channer to the Spring-Green team is a commitment to their strategic growth plans. “James brings a wealth of knowledge from his franchising and consulting background and will use this to help attract franchise partners to the Spring-Green network,” said Young. Channer began his career in franchising with a telecom consulting franchise as they began their expansion into the US. He held positions in franchise support, training, business development and franchise sales. Wanting to help others realize the dream of business ownership, Channer then joined FranChoice, a franchise consulting service, as an independent franchise consultant. Prior to his franchise career, Channer played college football at Mayville State University in North Dakota and then semi-pro ball before returning to Toronto and becoming a fitness coach and sales consultant for Bally Matrix. He then worked for Bell Canada as a national accounts manager responsible for a team of account representatives with a portfolio that exceeded 10 million dollars in annual revenue. Moving into project management, Channer was a key player in the creation of new processes and procedures for Bell Canada during the deregulation movement in the wholesale market.
