On Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, August 27th Rita's Ices, Cones, Shakes and Other Cool Stuff at 220 Monticello Avenue will celebrate the store's grand opening with a special celebration featuring music for the adults and a variety of fun activities. On Saturday the festivities are from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Williamsburg Field Musick, complete with authentic regimental uniforms will treat visitors to Rita's to the spirit and charm of 18th century military music. The group, which has performed at Colonial Williamsburg, the Richmond Christmas Parade and NASA's 40th Anniversary, will perform on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Singer-guitarist Jimmy Emmanual, a local favorite will perform from 5-7 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Belly Button the Clown will be on hand Saturday (7-9 p.m.) and Peek-A-Boo on Sunday (3-5 p.m.) will entertain the kids with face painting and balloon sculptures. Rita's temporary tattoos will be given away both days. There will also be raffles on both days. Rita's Italian Ices are made daily and available in more than 30 different flavors.
