A 13-year veteran of the RE/MAX network, Bill Soteroff, who has served as chief operating officer and managing director of RE/MAX Europe for five years will now join the RE/MAX International executive management team as senior vice president of international operations. Under his direction, the European operation has grown to 8,700 sales associates in 44 regions and more than 1,400 franchises in 31 countries. In the last three years alone, the RE/MAX network has added 3,000 new franchises and the list of countries with franchising operations has increased by more than 20 under the leadership of Peter Gilmour, who will continue in his role as senior vice president of international franchise sales and brokerage. "Bill is a quality individual who has repeatedly demonstrated superior management capabilities," said Margaret Kelly, chief executive officer of RE/MAX International. "We have admired his work for years and are pleased he has elected to join the RE/MAX executive management team. Thanks to Peter Gilmour, our global expansion has been spectacular. The addition of Bill to our team will allow Peter to focus on additional international franchise development and expansion of the company owned brokerage operations. Bill's experience and knowledge will be of great value to our franchisees and members worldwide." A graduate of the University of Western Ontario and a former resident of Southborough, Mass., Soteroff married Elisabeth, his University sweetheart and they have two children. For over 20 years he has dedicated himself to the entrepreneurial ideal and to concepts that nurture the small businessperson. He has worked for a number of national and international corporations, including franchise companies and start-ups. For the eight years prior to his role in Europe, Soteroff was executive vice president and regional director of RE/MAX of New England and was responsible for the growth and operation of 250 offices and over 2,500 sales associates. RE/MAX Europe is owned by Frank Polzler and Walter Schneider, co-founders and owners of the RE/MAX Ontario-Atlantic Canada region and who also own regional franchise rights in nine states in the U.S. including RE/MAX New England where Soteroff began his career with the organization. Soteroff and his family will relocate from Vienna, Austria to the Denver area in January 2007.
