The PostalAnnex+ located in the Fred Meyer Center on Martinazzi Avenue will be helping local foster children get back to school by offering store discounts in exchange for school supply donations. During the entire month of August, this PostalAnnex+ will offer $5 off any UPS and FedEx shipment for every backpack donated and $2 off a shipment for every school supply item donated. Raffle tickets are $1 each and are currently on sale at the store. Prizes include a weekend at the Marriot, free tanning for a year from Islands Tanning and numerous other prizes from local businesses. "We wanted to do this to ensure the foster children in this area are given at least one advantage in life by being able to attend the school year with all the supplies needed to give them the same opportunities as their peers," says owner Kate LaMare. This promotion occurs in coordination with the store's re-grand opening on August 18, 2006. A Chamber of Commerce networking event and ribbon cutting ceremony with the mayor are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Local foster children will host a raffle and barbeque from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Tualatin Police and Fire Departments will be in attendance between 2 and 3 p.m. to do free child ID kits.
