Mr. Handyman has recently been invited by ESPN to contribute to the 2005 ESPY gift bags for the presenters and nominees of the prestigious sporting awards. The ESPY awards, which celebrate the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly, will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on July13. The ceremony will air on the sports cable channel ESPN on July 17. The awards show partners the biggest names in sports with the biggest names in Hollywood, and this year, Mr. Handyman is joining the action. "We are excited to participate in the ESPY awards by having our Mr. Handyman services be part of the gift bags for the presenters and nominees. The gift bags are a hot commodity, and it's an honor for Mr. Handyman to be recognized as one of the top brands in the services, technology and luxury categories," says John McLellan, chief marketing officer for Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Service Brands International (SBI), parent company of Mr. Handyman. Mr. Handyman is a full-service repair and maintenance company specializing in all of the around-the-house handyman tasks that everyone has on a to-do list on their refrigerator. McLellan says they stick to their motto and get the job done right and on time. The recipient of the gift bag will receive eight hours of Mr. Handyman services. "Even stars need a handyman," McLellan says. "We'd love to help the nominees install some new shelving in anticipation of winning an ESPY," McLellan adds. Last year, the ESPY gift bag featured products from Converse, Norelco, ESPN Golf Schools, Mitchell and Ness and several other contributors. The awards were created in 1993 and winners are picked by the fans. Nominees will be announced on June 24. A portion of the proceeds generated by the ESPY awards are donated to The V Foundation, a foundation established by ESPN to fund cancer research in honor of its first Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian award winner Jim Valvano.
