Dallas, Texas - 13 June, 2005 -
Winners of the 3rd Annual 2005 American Business Awards shared the spotlight with Donald J. Trump, who was presented the first Lifetime Achievement Stevie Award. Ali Velshi, host of The TurnAround on CNN, hosted the gala ceremony at New Yorks Marriott Marquis Hotel. Jani-King International was honored as a Finalist in the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program and Best Support Organization categories during the evenings ceremony. We are proud to have been recognized alongside companies such as Sprint, Verizon and Oracle, said Robert Kindred, Director of Public Relations for Jani-King International. Our Workplace Awareness Program has received positive reviews since the beginning and being honored as a finalist proves that this is a worthy program. The Workplace Awareness Program was developed in response to the 9/11 attacks as a way to aid in the safety of Jani-King franchisees, employees, clients, and their customers. The new training program specifically educates employees and franchisees on three key areas that are important to terror prevention: awareness, identification and reporting. In addition to the American Business Awards, International Business Awards were presented on May 19th in New York City. Andy and Olga Bermudez, Jani-King franchise owners, won a Stevie in the Best Franchisee category, recognizing their exceptional work in the Tampa Bay, Florida region. Andy and Olga have been Jani-King's Crown Club Award winners two of the past three years and Andy played a key role in the development of Jani-Kings Workplace Awareness Program. Jani-King was also a finalist for two International Stevie Awards --Best Support Organization and Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program. Jani-King strives to support our franchisors and franchisees in every facet of their business, said Kindred. To be honored for our efforts is rewarding. We have had fantastic international growth over the past year and we are excited to promote the Jani-King brand across the globe. Hailed as the business worlds own Oscars by the New York Post (September 22, 2002), The American Business Awards are the first national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace. Nicknamed the SteviesTM for the Greek word crowned, winners were announced during presentations on Monday, June 6 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. More than 1,200 nominations were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, including Best Overall Company, Best Executive, Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program, and Best Human Resources Organization. Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected Stevie winners from among the Finalists. Finalists were selected by business professionals nationwide during three months of preliminary judging. Being selected as a Finalist is an important achievement, because it means that independent judges have agreed that the Finalist is worthy of national recognition, said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of The Stevie Awards.
