Hilton Sydney Hotel To The Stars

Sydney - 24 April, 2006 -

Since its red carpet re-opening in mid-2005, Hilton Sydney has certainly earned its reputation as the city's most popular celebrity hotel for events, rest and play. With the recent arrival of the MTV Australian Video Music Awards 2006 last week - biggest event of the year for the Australian entertainment industry -over 30 paparazzi were camped outside the hotel for three days vying to catch a glimpse of some of world's most popular musical artists, industry executives and glamorous entourage staying at the hotel. As the Official Hotel Partner for the MTV Australian Video Music Awards 2006, Hilton Sydney was swamped with international rockers and starlets such as sisters Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Snoop Dog, The Darkness, The Veronicas, Lee Harding, Danny Way and a host of other celebrities. Ashlee Simpson and her entourage took over The Master Suite, where they indulged in many of the hotel's premium services. The Bath Master proved to be a favourite as the in-house phones ran hot with celeb requests for massages and treatments, so much so a team of extra Bath Masters had to be called in to cope with the demand. The day prior to the Awards, Hilton Sydney hosted the official press conference in its state-of the-art State Room with over 100 media and paparazzi in attendance and Ashlee Simpson, The Veronicas and Lee Harding hosted in the green room. Moments before the highly unconventional press conference kicked off, a group of iconic Aussie characters dressed in Speedos clowned around on stage to reflect the eccentric personality of the Awards. On the night of the Awards, an exclusive VIP after-party was held at Zeta bar, voted Australia's "Best New Bar Venue" at the recent Australian Liquor Industry Awards 2005. VIPs sipped exquisite cocktails designed by bar manager Mikey Enright and danced to old school hip hop until the wee hours. On the menu was a specially created cocktail, The Jessi-Lee, made from fresh pineapple & passionfruit pressed and shaken with Belvedere Citrus Vodka, Cointreau, Butterscotch - served martini style with a golden rose petal. Celebrity guests included Snoop Dogg, James Blunt, Erica Baxter, Jennifer Hawkins, Reg Reagan, Stephanie Macintosh, Kate Fisher, Lara Bingle, Craig Wing, Luke Ricketson, KRAM, Gretal Killeen, Bernard Fanning, Anthony Callea, Kyle Sandilands, Jade McCrae and many more. With numerous parties taking place each week at Hilton Sydney, from fashion shows to magazine launches and VIP after-parties, its reputation as the city's most loved hotel for celebrity spotting and entertainment lives on with the new generation.
