Golf USAs vice president of sales and marketing, Bill Overstreet, announced today that the company will rollout a layaway-centered, Christmas ad campaign to its franchised stores worldwide this year, a first in the companys recent history. The campaign will be based upon a small down payment and no interest program for purchases. With the advent of the credit card, layaway programs have almost become extinct, said Overstreet. Although layaway programs have been underutilized by consumers in the past two decades, the company believes that their no interest layaway offer will appeal to the cautious consumer who is wary of accumulating high interest debt in the current uncertain economy. Overstreet reported that he could not remember a time when the entire chain had centered their Christmas ads on layaway. We are trying to make it as easy as possible for our customers to get what they want, he said. He went on to predict that the popularity of layaway programs could make a comeback this year. The ads will run in newspapers across the United States and abroad, and will also be supported by in-store signage. About Golf USA.
