Camp Bow Wow USA, the first and largest dog daycare and boarding franchise in North America, recognized its Pittsburgh Camp Bow Wow location as the Best New Franchise of 2005. The company presented the award to Jordan and Barbara Murray of Green Tree at its second annual meeting in Las Vegas earlier this month. The husband-and-wife team just opened its dog care facility in November 2005. "We can't wait to share this award with our customers," said Jordan Murray, who owns and operates Camp Bow Wow Pittsburgh with his wife Barbara. "It shows that our clients and their beloved dogs are in great hands at our camp." More than 200 franchise owners and managers attended the three-day conference. Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald of Animal Planet and Bill Rancic, winner of Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" television show, spoke at the event. In addition to non-traditional dog boarding and doggy daycare, Camp Bow Wow Pittsburgh offers a complimentary airport shuttle and parking for customers. The facility also provides grooming and training services. The Green Tree facility has 6,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor play space with four separate play areas to group dogs by size and temperament. The camp is the first dog care facility in Pittsburgh that features live Web cams -- allowing dog owners to view their pets at play. The Murrays will open a franchise in the Cranberry Township area later this year. Members of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins are among their customers. Camp Bow Wow USA was founded in 2000. The company sold its first franchise in 2003 in Boulder, Colo. More than 130 franchises have been sold in the United States and Canada.
